Head of Product Development (Tech)
What we're looking for
As the Head Of Product Development (Tech), you will be responsible for driving the overall technology vision, innovation, and roadmap for Herond Labs. You will oversee all aspects of the technology infrastructure, product development, and engineering teams, ensuring that our technical capabilities align with our business goals. The Head Of Product Development will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver cutting-edge solutions and will play a key role in shaping the future direction of the company.Role and responsibilities
Technology Leadership:
Define and implement the company’s technical vision and strategy in alignment with business objectives.
Oversee all aspects of the company’s technological development, including architecture, engineering, infrastructure, and security.
Ensure the scalability, reliability, and performance of the company’s products and systems.
Product Development:
-Lead the design, development, and implementation of new products and enhancements.
-Collaborate with product management to define product roadmaps and timelines.
-Ensure timely delivery of products within budget and quality standards.
Managing Diverse Technology Stacks:
-Lead teams working across multiple programming languages and frameworks, ensuring seamless integration between different tech stacks.
-Set coding standards and best practices across languages and platforms to ensure quality, maintainability, and performance.
-Facilitate cross-team collaboration and knowledge sharing, ensuring alignment on design, architecture, and development methodologies.
Team Management:
Build, manage, mentor, and grow high-performing development and engineering teams that specialize in various languages
Foster a culture of collaboration, continuous learning, and innovation.
Define hiring needs, participate in recruitment, and ensure the right talent is in place to support the company’s growth.
Strategic Planning and Collaboration:
Collaborate with the executive leadership team on strategic initiatives and business planning.
Act as the primary technology advisor to the CEO and board of directors.
Communicate complex technical concepts in a clear and actionable manner to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Education and experience
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field (MBA or related advanced degrees are a plus).
Proven experience (8+ years) in technology leadership roles, preferably within a high-growth tech company.
Strong technical expertise in software development, cloud infrastructure, cybersecurity, and system architecture.
Experience with modern cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
Experience managing diverse engineering teams and leading large-scale technology projects.
Demonstrated ability to develop and execute technology strategies that align with business objectives.
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Experience with Agile and DevOps methodologies, and familiarity with modern development tools and practices.
Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to anticipate challenges and proactively address them.
Preferred Skills:
Experience in AI, blockchain, etc.
Familiarity with regulatory and compliance requirements in the tech industry.
Experience working with or leading remote teams.
Ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to non-technical audiences, including investors and stakeholders.
